Athletics Ireland Junior Endurance Camp Day 2

Elite Garry enjoyed a dry needling session, The cross country athletes and Oisin did a diamond session. Oisin had a stitch due to his microwaved pizza eaten the night before.(no ovens).Jacks feet were on fire due vigorous friction between his new flats and the many blisters the athletes have gotten from the heat. Garry's fridge broke and he then cooked a weeks worth of meat and tried to sell it off. Some of the cross country runners ran in the former euro cross country course early this morning including some runners from 2014 euro cross country in preparation for this coming December. We were treated by the kind farmer to more "free" oranges. We had a debriefing after training, with plenty of questions asked.(Hope)

Chocolate Milk!

Fact of the day: chocolate milk is the ultimate recovery drink. One intelligent gal thought it would be a good idea to wear black shoes and socks in the sweltering 30 degrees, attempting a 10x200m session at "marathon pace". An other did a "fairly sick" session, when he achieved euro junior 800m standard for all the girls (6times..)

After the "exhilarating" sessions endured by the athletes , the athletes DIDNT burn by the pool, because they were, wearing sun cream.

Dealing With The Heat!

A vast amount of athletes were astonished to find out that by rolling a foot gently on a tennis ball injuries can be prevented, along a kinetic chain of muscles. The girls (Carla and hope) ran out of the previously bought (50 litres) of water and the kind Garry donated some. Rhona Ramsey then cooked up a storm for the starving athletes. (Chili con carne). While the not so culinary gifted ate out once again. Coach made sure we were running steady.(6..6..7 out of ten). Oisin had a fizzy drink, and that's when the party started. An early night was had by all after a long days training!!!
