Autumn Open Cross Country

The Autumn Open Cross Country Event promoted by Athletics Ireland will take place at the Magazine Fort in the Phoenix Park on Sunday, 19th of October.  The event is open to non-Athletics Ireland members and aims to encourage those that take to the roads every weekend to come along and try a different style of racing on the country.  There will be a choice of an open 5km race starting at 2.15pm or an 8km race starting at 3pm open to both men and women. This is a great opportunity for GloHealth Fit4Life members and road racers to try cross country running in the beautiful surroundings of the Phoenix Park.

Elite

Many of Ireland’s leading senior cross country runners will also line up in the Phoenix Park in what will be the first big test of the 2014 Cross Country season. For a few the major target for the winter will be the European Cross Country Championships taking place in Bulgaria on the 13th of December.  The *junior squads under the tutelage of the National Junior Team Coaches Steven Macklin, Joe Ryan and Geraldine Nolan will be out in force as the junior athletes aim to show form ahead of the GloHealth National Cross Country Championships on the 23rd of November,

*Junior women are asked to enter the 5km open race and the junior men the 8km open race, any queires on the junior races please contact stevenmacklin@athleticsireland.ie

Master Athletes

The races will also incorporate the Master Cross Country Trials for the British and Irish Master Cross Country Championships. In order for a Master athlete to be considered for selection they must compete in their appropriate distance.

Entry

Athletes are encouraged to enter online for the race however there will be late entries taken on the day from Donore Harriers Club House at a cost of €20.
