Minister Ring Launches Morton Games

The Morton Games International Track and Field was launched today by Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Mr. Michael Ring T.D.  The attendance included international athletes Dara Kervick, Brian Gregan, Mark English and Hope Saunders.  The Morton Games is Dublin’s International Track and Field Meet and will take place in the Morton Stadium Santry on Friday July 24th.

Speaking at the launch Minister Ring said:

‘The 2015 Games will provide our top Irish athletes with a fantastic opportunity to test themselves against their international counterparts.  This important event will be an exciting occasion for the Irish public to see some of our outstanding athletes in action. Athletics, and particularly running, is becoming more and more popular in all parts of the country. Events like the Morton Games are a great showcase for athletics and I am sure that the public will come out and give its support to the event.’

100 International Athletes

This years Morton Games will feature some 100 international athletes from the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobego, Ghana, Uganda and Europe.

Ireland’s top athletes will be competing including stadium record holder Mark English in the 800, Ciara Mageean, Ciara Everard, Brian Gregan, Dara Kervick, Thomas Barr and John Travers.

Morton Games will feature several top international athletes including Will Leer (USA) who on July 24th will be aiming to become the most prolific winner of the storied Morton Mile.

The Meet will be a non stop night of world class athletics from 7 p.m. with the feature Morton Mile at 9 p.m.
