Record Numbers Entered For Parkside Schools XC 2015

POSTED:

On March 4th over 700 school children will compete in the annual Parkside Schools Cross Country in John Paul Park (The Bogies) in Cabra. The event being organised by Celtic DCH AC with the help of Dublin City Council and a postgraduate student team from DCU is being run in aid of Focus Ireland this year to raise necessary funds to help those who are without homes in Ireland.

Traditionally, the event has be known for an exciting day of sport for Primary School students, however this year we will see Ireland’s very first ‘1st Years School Cross Country Team Relay’ for first years in Secondary School who will battle it out in teams of 6 running 500m per leg. The Primary Schools programme kicks off at 11.30am and 1st Year Team Relay is scheduled to start at 12 noon. Check out the event poster here!

There will be a shop on site and raffle on the day with plenty of exciting prizes to be won with all proceeds going to Focus Ireland.

800 children and their families were made homeless in the first 10 months of 2014 alone and all it takes is €2 to provide someone who is homeless with a hot meal. You can donate online here or by texting MEAL to 50300 to donate €2 to Focus Ireland in line with the Parkside Schools Cross Country fundraising campaign!

(100% of text cost goes to Focus Ireland across most network providers. Some providers apply VAT which means a minimum of €1.63 will go to Focus Ireland. Service Provider: LIKECHARITY. Helpline (01) 4433890. Thank you.)

Many thanks to race sponsors to date: Johns DIY, Dualway Coaches, Sampson Physiotherapy, Dunnes Stores & Sports Accessories Ireland and to all those who have contributed to our shop and raffle who can be found here.
