Wicklow kids jump for Jamboree joy!

Forest Feast Little Athletics Jamboree a success in Shoreline Leisure Centre, Greystones

Getting active and having fun was top of the agenda for Wicklow kids last week with a hugely successful Forest Feast Little Athletics Jamboree event taking place in Greystones

The fun-filled event, on Monday 23rd, brought together nearly 100 athletes (5-12 years old) from local schools and athletics clubs to participate in an action packed day of activity.

The young athletes were put through their paces by participating in various games, challenges and activities, which worked on their agility, balance and coordination - the three fundamentals of Forest Feast Little Athletics.

Athletics Ireland Regional Development Officer Colin Byrne, co-ordinator of the event said:

“A big thank you to all the local clubs (Greystones AC, Bray Runners AC, Kilcoole AC, Ashford AC & Inbhear Dee AC) for supporting the event and making this day possible. We are delighted with the turnout of so many children here this evening, getting active and enjoying themselves at the same time. We’re delighted that Forest Feast Little Athletics is growing even more popular across Ireland this year, with local clubs getting fully behind the programme.”

The Jamboree event comes on the back of the recent new partnership between Athletics Ireland and dried fruit and nut experts Forest Feast, who will support the growth of grassroot athletics in Ireland through the major sponsorship of Little Athletics. Forest Feast Little Athletics introduces young children (5-12 years) to athletics in a fun, engaging and non-competitive environment.

There next Forest Feast Little Athletics Jamboree takes place in AIT International Arena, Athlone on the 25th of June.
