Xcessible | Active Disability Ireland

Expressions of interest are sought for the following workshops:

  • Autism in Sport Workshop

This online workshop will provide attendees with an understanding of Autism focussing on the delivery of sport. It will help participants to recognise and understand key areas of difference as well as looking at practical strategies which will help to include people with autism in sport sessions. This is a 2.5 hr course delivered and certified by Active Disability Ireland.

  • Guide Running Workshop / Vision Sports Awareness Training

Guide running is where a sighted runner supports a vision impaired or blind runner to exercise, train or compete in a safe manner. Vision Sports Ireland and Athletics Ireland aim to create a network of guide running coordinators and guide running volunteers across Ireland to support people with a Vision Impairment to participate in the activity of running.

In advance of the in-person workshop or shortly after, all participants must complete the Vision Sports Awareness Training, which is a 90-minute online course.

  • Para-Athletics Coach Development Webinar Series

Athletics Ireland, Paralympics Ireland and Offaly Sports Partnership will host a Coach Development Webinar Series early in 2024. The series will include 5 x 1hr webinars (50min info delivery, 10 min Q&A) including Official education webinar. This will include event specific focus facilitated by leading athletics coaches with para-athletics experience and expertise. More details will be announced on social media over the coming weeks.

  • Future Stars

The inaugural para- athletics festival alongside the indoor Diversity Games known as Future Stars will take place in Athlone International Indoor Arena on the 10th and 11th of January. This is a school’s event for primary (3rd class upwards) and secondary school children. Contact ehenry@offalycoco.ie or 086-7948054.
