Junior HP Camp in Athlone Ends on a High Note

POSTED:

Tired but happy we make our way home for Easter. The days (& nights) at Camp had flown by. We packed a lot in to each day, but think we all felt we all learned SOMETHING new!

Table Quiz

Last night Vinny ‘Nidge’ Mulvey became the MC for the night and we had a Table Quiz testing us mentally after all the physical exertions of the week! We were all divided randomly into 6 teams and as ever with a bunch of athletes in one room, competition was fierce!!! After a close battle, Team Hydration won in the end. Well done to Dean, Anne-Marie, Sharlene, Keith & Kate. Each member of the wining team in now proudly supporting a Minion Mug and Easter egg!

Lifestyle & Hydration

During the Quiz our Camp t-shirts arrived and many of us modelled them today at training in AIT. The Lifestyle and Hydration monitoring taught us all a lot – especially that Pizza is salty and not a good idea to eat it late at night as it leads to poor hydration readings the next morning! Many of us were tired today, but training still went well and the Relay teams did some excellent work in the zones on the outdoor track.

Junior Camp

We are all really looking forward to the outdoor season and putting all the training to the test. Thanks to all the Support Staff who made the Junior Camp in Athlone so enjoyable (we can’t blame them for the weather). Thank goodness for the indoor track at AIT and for a great hotel where nothing was ever too much trouble – even when we lost our keys for the 20th time!

Costa del Athlone, it’s been an experience…
